Mike Fairfield was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, raised in Ontario and got his first taste of entrepreneurial life delivering newspapers and working in his grandparent’s and then parent's family hardware business. School and hockey were par for the course, along with the expectation of contributing to the family business and earning an income. After all, it got him his first motorbike at 16.
By the age of eighteen, he was working full-time on a maintenance crew at a regional shopping centre in Ottawa. That same year he dropped out of high school, bought his first car and moved into a small bachelor apartment. That job eventually turned into a full-time management position with Enterprise Property Group, a growing commercial real estate development firm in Toronto. At 28, Mike had learned virtually every position in the company and was managing several million square feet of commercial and retail property across Canada with offices in Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton. During that time he was invited to partner with his mentor and friend to start a number of new business ventures including: Pizza Bambino and Eat's Cantina in Edmonton, Alberta. Inova Optics; a vision care products franchise, based in Ottawa, Ontario. RoadKing - Canada’s largest truck stop development in Calgary, Alberta. Macassa Bay Boat Tours at Queen's Quay in Toronto. Stash 'n Stella's; 50's theme restaurant franchise in upstate New York with locations in Buffalo, Rochester, Clay, Syracuse, Ithaca, Schenectady and Saratoga Springs.
Mike is the founder of Merritt Marketing Group (est. 2003) and co-founder of Gospel Garage (est. 2020), a Christian Motorcycle Ministry established with his wife, Odelle. Together, they enjoy mentoring young entrepreneurs and working with small businesses to help them grow and scale online. If they aren't busy serving clients, they are probably out touring on their bikes and sharing the good news.
