Through Merritt Marketing Group and Gospel Garage, my wife, Odelle, and I have seen how faith and integrity can transform businesses and lives.

Here are three lessons I’ve learned on this journey.

1. Lead with Purpose, Not Profit

When I started Merritt Marketing Group in 2003, I wanted to help businesses grow, but I also wanted to do it God’s way. That meant putting people before profit and focusing on long-term impact. Whether designing a website or mentoring a young entrepreneur, I ask, “How can this serve others?” Purpose-driven businesses build trust and create lasting legacies.

2. Integrity Is Non-Negotiable

Clients often tell me they choose us because we deliver on our promises. In a world full of shortcuts, integrity stands out. It’s about being honest when a project hits a snag, going above and beyond to meet deadlines, and treating every client like family. As Proverbs 10:9 says, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely.” Let that be your foundation.

3. Faith Fuels Creativity

Some of my best ideas have come from prayer and trusting God to guide me. Whether it’s a bold marketing strategy or a Gospel Garage ride that brings people to Jesus, faith sparks creativity. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. God’s plans are always bigger than ours.

Running a business as a Christian isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. You get to serve, inspire, and point others to Jesus while doing what you love. Odelle and I have seen this firsthand, from helping small businesses scale to sharing the Gospel on the open road. Whatever your calling, let faith and integrity guide you.

Ready to grow your business with purpose?
